At 11:20 “as you can see, crossing…when it’s low like this is no big deal” But if you look in the background a hiker totally wipes out into the stream.
Hanakapi’ai stream does not need a bridge. I understand the safety aspect but adding a bridge will only contribute to the destruction of natural beauty of the Kalalau trail by increasing the foot traffic and adding an element (e.g bridge) that is an unnatural “footprint”.
I have hiked this trail several times when visiting my ohana and I use caution and common sense at all stream crossings and slippery, narrow pathways.

They did not mention the cost of camping without a permit. What is the fine?
The fine amount can vary. The expensive part is the mandated court appearance. If you are not from the island and have a mandatory court date, the cost of travel to the island for a court date can be extremely expensive.
