Nāpali Coast State Wilderness Park permits are now available on the State’s website. (How do I get a permit?) Permits can be purchased up to 30 days prior to your visit.

Hiking/camping the full 11-mile Kalalau Trail was shut down due to Covid-19 in March 2020. In May, Hawaii State Parks opened the first 2-miles of the Kalalau Trail to Hanakapiʻai for ocean recreational use. This week, permits to hike past Hanakāpīʻai Beach and camp overnight were made available.

The State of Hawaii still has Covid-19 restrictions in place. Make sure to check those requirements before you obtain permits. Having a permit does not guarantee that you are able to travel to Hawaii.

Hikers must hike in groups of no more than 2 unless they live together in the same space. Groups of hikers must maintain a space of at least 20 feet from other groups.

Be aware that overnight parking options are currently hard to find due to covid-19.
