Located along the famous Napali Coast of northern Kauai is a beast of a trail known as the Kalalau Trail. It is one of the deadliest trails in the world. In total this hike is 11 miles one way and not to be taken lightly. This trail was only recently opened on Monday, June 17th 2019 and has been closed since the severe flooding on and after April 18th, 2018. We were fortunate enough to obtain a park permit to access the trailhead in Ha’ena Park on that Wednesday, June 19th. We did the first 2 miles, enjoyed the beach, and then went back. It was worth it! Beautiful! Also, it made me want to hike the tails in my backyard…so look for those videos later!
